REVO x Lululemon Running Injury Prevention Workshop

As a physical therapist and running gait analysis expert at REVO Physiotherapy in Boulder, CO, Anh organized the company’s first running injury workshop. She bridged a partnership between REVO and Lululemon to sponsor her event of 50+ participants.

Anh gave a 50-minute presentation on why common running injuries occur and why proper movement biomechanics matter. Using Simi Aktysis software, Anh had volunteers perform a movement assessment with LED markers to measure faulty movement patterns.

In addition, she utilized research-grade electromyography (EMG) sensors on a runner’s glutes and hamstrings to show faulty muscle firing patterns and asymmetries. Most importantly, Anh lead her participants through simple hip strength exercises with a resistance band to simply correct and prevent faulty movement patterns that lead to common running injuries.

Electromyography sensors placed on a volunteer with a chronic hamstring injury to show asymmetrical glute muscle activation from right vs. left.

The presentation was followed by a dynamic warm-up lead by Lululemon run ambassador Jess Broderick. The event finale was our local 5k run to socialize with our participants. Through this event, Anh overcame difficult challenges such as organizing a large group of participants, setting up equipment, and troubleshooting software (in the middle of a presentation). Ultimately, Anh accomplished her goal with this event which is to share her passion for running with the local community and to bring runners together.
